Dedicated bus corridors within cities helping sales too. Bangalore-based Volvo Buses India (VBI) is seeing strong demand from state transport undertakings (STUs) for its luxury buses, priced upwards of Rs 70 lakh each.

Hino Motors Corporation, a Toyota Group company, said on Monday it would launch luxury buses for Indian roads by December. The Indian arm, Hino Motors Sales India Pvt Ltd, has also set a target to sell 700-800 units of heavy trucks and buses before March 2010 and plans to double it by next year.
